Integration of Constructed Floodplain Ponds into Nature-Like Fish Passes Supports Fish Diversity in a Heavily Modified Water Body

چکیده

Fish passes facilitate fish movement in fragmented river systems, yet they can also provide important habitat functions. This study investigated the community composition of different constructed types (fluvial habitats, floodplain ponds) within relation to characteristics order deduce recommendations for fish-friendly designs such structures. structures differed significantly from those main river, comprising a high number rheophilic species fluvial habitats (Thymallus thymallus, Hucho hucho, Salmo trutta, Cottus gobio, Chondrostoma nasus, and Barbus barbus), stagnophilic ponds (Rhodeus amarus, Scardinius erythrophthalmus, Misgurnus bipartitus, Tinca tinca). During summer, provided juvenile target C. nasus B. barbus. Differences between two abundance were mostly explained by differences macrophyte coverage, gravel, boulders, temperature, current speed. The findings this stress functions passes. They suggest that integration diverse structures, especially currently hardly considered into passes, greatly enhance their communities contribute restoration several declining conservation.

Managing Ammonia in Fish Ponds

Ammonia in water is either unionized ammonia (NH3) or the ammonium ion (NH4). The techniques used to measure ammonia provide a value that is the sum of both forms. The value is reported as “total ammonia” or simply “ammonia.” (In this publication, “ammonia” refers to the sum of both forms; the specific forms will be referred to as appropriate.) The relative proportion of the two forms present i...

Influence of Probiotics on Water Quality and Fish Yield in Fish Ponds

Increased production of fish through intense culture practices often leads to not only stress and disease problems but also alteration in water quality. The organic wastes and bad water quality influence the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. Bioremediation using pond probiotics is considered a promising way to circumvent these problems. For this study, three earthen fish ponds stocked with P...

Diversity of Bacteria Contaminants in Tissues of Fish Cultured in Organic Waste-Fertilized Ponds: Health Implications

Bacterial populations contaminating various tissues of fish cultured in fish ponds fertilized with different organic wastes have been studied. Twenty-five genera of bacteria were identified as associated with the fish tissues. The identified bacteria included one genus of spiral and curved bacteria, one genus of Gram-negative aerobic rod, sixteen genera of Gram-negative facultative anaerobic ro...

Species diversity of fish in the Sanandaj Azad Dam ecosystem

Fish sampling was conducted to evaluate the species diversity of fish in 4 stations in Sanandaj Azad dam ecosystem seasonally from summer of 2017 to spring of 2018. A total of 1057 fish were caught in 12 species, of which more than 80% were caught in the lake behind the dam. The Cyprinidae family had 11 species with the most species diversity and only Sasanidus kermanshahensis belonged to the N...
